Morning duty's...

Hole number two,  a great par 3.....
I was admiring the view this morning before spraying our (the greenkeepers) new best friend 'Primo Maxx'.
There are a couple of areas on the course where you could be forgiven for asking the question,'what's going on there ?'

If you take a look at the pictures above and below you will notice yellow areas on the fairways.

The simple explanation is that we are changing the shape of each fairway, some more than others.  When a lower than normal cut is made this can cause stress to the grass thus making the sports turf turn yellow.
This will usually take around two weeks to repair itself providing we have some rain.

This year the greens staff are making a real effort in raise the standards of all of our playing surfaces at Redditch Golf Club, especially the fairways.
We all know Redditch is half woodland / half parkland and due to many shaded and clay areas, it  has resulted in poor grass coverage. The cure for this is Primo Maxx.

What is Primo Maxx ??

Primo Maxx reduces top growth while improving both sward density and root mass. It has a unique active ingredient which reduces vertical growth, increases food reserves and lateral stem development. This creates a healthier and thicker sward that can better withstand temperature extremes, moisture loss and heavy wear and tear.

The pictures above are from the 15th, it was the worst fairway by far and after
3 months of using PM the change has been amazing, I've never seen it look so good. Now it looks like one on Andy Clark's carpets !!

                 Benefits of using Primo maxx

Heartier, more upright plant                                                       Reduced irrigation requirement
Improved wear tolerance                                                            Improved drought tolerance
Increased playability                                                                   Increased fungicide performance
Increased cold tolerance                                                            Reduction in clippings
Increased roots, stolons, rhizomes                                           Assistance in resisting disease
